"Weaving tradition into a contemporary brand mark, J Looms needed an identity as textured and considered as their fabrics."
The Brief
Create a brand identity for a textile brand that honours craft heritage while positioning confidently in the contemporary market.
Developed a complete brand system: primary logo with heritage-inspired letterform, stationery suite, packaging touchpoints, retail signage, and promotional print material.
Logo Architecture
The wordmark balances geometric precision with subtle texture references, suggesting the loom's warp and weft within a clean, scalable mark.
Print Touchpoints
Postcard, bag, and signage designs extend the brand with material consideration, each medium treated as a canvas in itself.
Real-World Application
On-site photography of the brand in context confirmed the identity translated from screen to physical material without loss of quality or character.
"The logo feels like it has always been ours. That is the highest compliment I can give."
— J Looms, Founder
What I Learned
Heritage is not nostalgia. Referencing craft tradition in a logo does not mean looking backward. The challenge is finding the detail that connects past and present.
Always photograph it. Every identity project must end with real-world photography. The gap between screen and material reveals everything about whether a brand truly works.
